Rosemary “Rose” Smarra

Age 80, of McKees Rocks, passed away surrounded by loved ones on Saturday, January 23, 2020.  Born in Pittsburgh, PA, one of four children to the late Angelo and Julia (Procopio) Asaro.  Loving mother of Tony (Janet) Smarra, Mike (Susie) Smarra, Vince (late Gretchen) Smarra and Paul (Lisa) Smarra.  Proud Grandmother of Michael, Giavanna, Natalya, Sonny, Alexa, Luke and Angelo and Great Grandmother to Felix and Jax.  Dear sister to the late Luke (late Delores) Asaro, Joann (late Joseph) Domina and the late Vincent Asaro.  Rose was a devoted mother who always put the needs of her four boys before her own. Her selflessness was not limited to her family, as Rose served many in the Sto-Rox community as a long-time medical assistant at the Sto-Rox Family Health Center (FOR) and at the Sto-Rox High School and Middle School.  Family will receive visitors Wednesday, January 27th from 4-8 pm at McDermott Funeral Home, 3341 Forest Grove Road followed by a Mass of Christian burial at Archangel Gabriel Parish, St. Malachy Church on Thursday, January 28th at 10 am.  The Family requests, in lieu of flowers, that donations be made in her name to the Sto-Rox Family Health Center at 710 Thompson Avenue, McKees Rocks, PA 15136.  The Family would like to thank the medical providers at UPMC Magee and their Women’s Cancer Center for the excellent care given to Rose in these recent years.
