Nancy Stetzer

Age 96, of Kennedy Twp. and recent resident of Front Royal, Va., passed away Dec.12 after a brief illness while surrounded by her family. Beloved wife of the late Joseph Stetzer, and loving mother to Mark Stetzer and Keith Stetzer, stepdaughter (the late) Karen (Stetzer) Scantling, and daughters-in-law Denise (Dillinger) Stetzer and Linda (Davis) Stetzer.

Loving grandmother to five grandchildren, Christine Stetzer, Alicia Stetzer, Joseph Stetzer, Samantha (Stetzer) Goodman and Charlie Polizzi, and three step-grandchildren Nikki (Naples) DiFiore, Lisa (Naples) Castillo and Kristie Naples. She dearly loved her 10 great-grandchildren, her two great-great-grandchildren and her many nieces and nephews.

Nancy worked for many years in manufacturing as a coil winder at Allis Chalmers and Union Switch & Signal, where she was recognized for her dedication to detail and strong work ethic. Later in life she worked as a “lunch lady” at Canevin High School, where she earned the admiration of the many students she served.

Following a private family viewing, a memorial service will be held on Friday, December 17, at 12 PM, at McDermott Funeral Home at 334 Forest Grove Road in Kennedy Twp. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.

I never met Mrs. Stetzer, however, just hearing the wonderful stories told by her son Keith, allowed me to feel the warmth of her love that she shared with others.

I also enjoyed spending time with Aunt Nancy when I was in town. This summer we were out for dinner with Dave and Sammy and talked about where her brothers were stationed during the war. I will miss her.

We spend a delightful afternoon with Aunt Nancy looking at old photos. She was so proud of her family and you could see that. She was a truly amazing woman. We were looking forward to visiting with her when she moved to Virginia but she had her own ideas. She was blessed to be so loved and cherished by her family.
