Kenneth “Zuke” Lukitsh of Kennedy Township, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 57 on Thursday,
November 2, 2023, after a six-month battle with pancreatic cancer. Ken was the son of the late Joseph
and Lois (Gilbert) Lukitsh. A beloved husband who will be sadly missed, Ken is survived by his wife
Sharon Marie Geary and his daughter Paige Marie Geary to whom he was a loving father. He is also
survived by his sister Karen (Bruce) DeTurck, his brother Kevin (Becki) Lukitsh, his niece Audrey DeTurck,
his nephew Kevin (Samantha) Lukitsh, Junior, and his late nephew Joey Lukitsh. Ken, who was loved and
respected by his wife Sharon’s family, was the much-loved son-in-law of Bernard “Chief” and Linda
Hoffman and much loved brother-in-law of Mike (Amy) Hoffman, Dave (Debbie) Hoffman, and their
children who will miss Uncle Ken. Finally, Ken leaves behind his best friends Richie, Rick, and Tom who
were like true brothers to him.
Ken grew up in the North Hills of Pittsburgh and graduated from Shaler High School in 1984. After high
school he attended Clarion University and graduated in 1988 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in
Communications. In 2000 he graduated from Slippery Rock University with a Bachelor of Science degree
in Education. Ken became a teacher and was inspired to instruct students of all ages. He ended his
teaching career as a physical education teacher in the Pittsburgh Public School District.
Ken will be remembered for his easy-going nature and love of sports. He and his wife Sharon shared a
deep bond, watching TV together, attending sporting events, and gathering with family and friends. He
was an encyclopedia of sports trivia and could tell you every team that played and won in every Super
Bowl. He enjoyed time at his sister and brother-in-law’s camp where many family milestones were
celebrated. He was a dedicated handyman around the house, loved working in the yard, and took pride
in his many home improvements.
Among his many loves, Ken held a special place in his heart for his kitties, Demi, Bella, Leo, and Mickey,
who provided him with comfort and companionship over the years. His affection for them was evident,
and he cherished the moments he spent with his feline friends.
Ken “Zuke” had a passion for golf and cherished the annual golf trips he took with his best friends.
These trips, known fondly as the “Lithuanian Tour,” were filled with laughter, friendly competition, and
the occasional golf ball lost in the rough.
One of Ken’s greatest passions was his unwavering support for Pittsburgh sports. He was a die-hard
Steeler fan and proudly held season tickets. He loved the tailgaters and cheering on the Black and Gold
through thick and thin in the warm and cold weather.
Ken may have left the game, but he leaves behind a legacy of joy, laughter, and love that will continue
to inspire all those who were fortunate to share in his remarkable journey. Rest in peace dear husband,
father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. May you continue to cheer on your beloved Steel City teams
from the best seat in the house.
