Joseph Robert "J.R." Schonbeck

Age 33, passed away peacefully at home on September 12, 2016, surrounded by his family and loved ones. Loving son of Joe and Diane Schonbeck; wonderful brother of Lisa (Chris) and Daniel; cherished uncle to Cara; treasured nephew of Louise (Dennis), Frank (Pat), Ann Marie and the late Michael, Mark (Natalie), Roberta (Danny) and John (Sharon); fantastic cousin to Zachary, Vincent, Christopher, Derrick, Autumn, Gina, Beth, Kristin (Eric) and Kate (Erik); grandson of the late Joseph and Marie Schonbeck and the late Robert and Ann LaPeccerella. J.R. was a 2001 graduate of Montour High School and Parkway Votech. After High School, J.R. attended the International Culinary Academy and achieved a degree in Culinary Arts. He also attended Pittsburgh Technical Institute and graduated with a degree in Hospitality Management Administration. He was recognized by Walt Disney Resorts for their Spring Program. J.R. was a member at the Teutonia Männerchor German Club on the Northside. He sang and danced with the D'Lustigen Isartalers Club at events throughout the years. He was also the head chef at the club. J.R. was the Democratic Committeeman for Robinson Twp., District 5. He was an altar boy at St. Malachy's along with singing in both the youth and adult choirs. He also sang tenor at St. Philip's in Crafton and Sacred Heart in Shadyside. The family will receive friends on THURSDAY, from 1-8 p.m. at McDERMOTT FUNERAL HOME, INC., 334 Forest Grove Road, Kennedy Twp., Coraopolis, PA 15108. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 a.m., at St. Malachy Church on FRIDAY.

We go back a long way Joe. I always knew you were someone special, someone unique, someone wonderful, from the second I met you. You had such a zest for life, an excitement about everything you did, and it was infectious. I wish so badly that we could have seen each other more over the years. You were such a good friend, so positive, and with such a deep faith in God. You will never be forgotten, and will live forever in Heaven and in the hearts of those that love you.
