A True Leader of Robinson Township, passed away peacefully at home with his wife Carmen by his side, on Wednesday, January 20, 2021.  Born September 16, 1934, in Lansford, PA, he was the son of the late Manuel and Delina (Ferretti) Filloy.   He was the beloved husband for over 50 years to the late Thelma M (Simcox) Filloy, much loved father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Joe graduated from Lansford High School in 1952 and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force as an Aircraft Maintenance Crew Chief during the Korean War, where he served stateside with the 42d Fighter-Interceptor Squadron, as part of the Air Defense Command (ADC), flying the North American F-86 Sabres aircraft.  This unit was assigned to 1st Air Force, which was headquartered at Mitchel Air Force Base (AFB), New York.  He completed his training as a Jet Aircraft Mechanic at Amarillo AFB, Texas.  Following his active duty discharge of four years, Joe transferred to the Pennsylvania Air National Guard, Pittsburgh Airport,  112th Fighter-Interceptor Group, whose mission was to counter the threat of Soviet bombers.  He would later work on the supersonic F-102A Delta Dagger, fully armed with two heat seeking missiles and four radar-guided missiles, as well as, 24 x 2.75 inch rockets.  In 1975 the 112th Air Refueling Group received the A-7D Corsair II, attack aircraft.    He retired after over 39 years of service in the USAF and ANG as a Missile and Munitions Manager and Tactical Aircraft Manager with the 112th Tactical Fighter Group.  Joe also managed to give back to his community by mentoring and coaching the Phillips Contracting Little League Boys Baseball Team in Robinson Twp.  The team won many championships under his management.  Joe was a proud member of both the Ascension Lutheran Church, Robinson Township American Legion Post #0862 and enjoyed traveling and playing in the PAANG Golf League.  He attended Community College of Allegheny County and Robert Morris University.  Joe left a powerful living legacy.  Education was highly valued and a strong work ethic was encouraged.  He deeply touched each and every one of us with his words of wisdom, wit, quick mind and most sincerely, his love.  Joe is survived by his wife Carmen Filloy, Daughter Linda (Filloy) Buckley (Joseph); Two Sons, Joseph M. Filloy (Nancy) and Scott Filloy; Step-daughter Tamira Jones. Seven grandchildren, Aaron (Eileen), Dustin, Joseph D. (Natausha), Ryan Buckley, Joshua (Heather) Buckley, Samantha (Alexei) Budilovsky and Josie Buckley; three great-grandchildren, Caris,  Fletcher and Arthur. Sister In-Law:  Ethel Lee Filloy and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Mrs. Angelina Baer, Mrs. Delina Butz, and brother Manuel J. "Manny" Filloy, Sr.

Family will welcome friends  on January 27, 2021 from 10 am to 12 pm, followed by services at 12 noon at MCDERMOTT FUNERAL HOME, 334 Forest Grove Road, Coraopolis, PA 15108.  Interment with Military honors, will be held at Resurrection Cemetery.
