Joseph J. Balobeck, Jr., age 92, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 4, 2024, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his first wife Manya Balobeck, his parents Mary and Joseph Balobeck, Sr. and sister Bernadette (Lane) Smith.
Joseph is survived by his wife Deborah Balobeck; his children Mark (Peggy) Balobeck, Michelle (Buddy) Baker, Brian Balobeck, Marsia Balobeck, and Joseph A. (Michelle) Balobeck; also survived by grandchildren Alek (Becky) Balobeck, Justin (Amanda) Balobeck, Elena (Rob) Horstmann, Kyle Balobeck (Alicia), Carl Gasper, Jr., Chelsea Gasper, (Ryan) and Christine Baker, Walter Baker (Nini), Andrea Baker (Randy), Zachary (Kathryn) Balobeck and Julia Balobeck. Joe was the proud great-grandfather of eight beautiful children. Of his many friends, clients, and those whose lives he has touched, none could forget his large personality.
Joe graduated from University of Notre Dame in 1955 with a bachelor degree in Architecture. He started his architectural firm several years later and worked tirelessly designing buildings for residential and commercial clients, including numerous projects for the diocese of Pittsburgh. His mantra was to "put humanity back into architecture." Among his most notable projects were St. Malachy RC Church, Kennedy Township Municipal Building, McDermott Funeral Home, Charlemagne Condominiums, Amberson Towers, North American Martyrs Church, Our Lady Of Joy and Olde Stonewall Golf Club & Shakespeare's Restaurant.
After the passing of his dear wife, Manya, in 1997 he became a one-man office.
In June 2001 he married his present wife, Deb who assisted him with his business. Relatives and friends received Monday, January 8, 2024, from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at McDERMOTT FUNERAL HOME,
