John Andrew , Sr.

John Hopay Sr, 94 of Kennedy Twp passed away Monday, March 6, 2017.  John was born December 1, 1922 in McKees Rocks, PA.  He is proceeded in death by his wife Rita Hopay, parents John and Ann Hopay as well as his siblings, Anna and Albert. He is the father to Drew Hopay and Jay Hopay.  Grandfather and Great-grandfather to many. Also, a loving uncle to numerous nieces and nephews. John was a graduate of Rox High where he excelled in fottball.  John also served during World War II with the US Navy. Upon returning from the war, John began his successful entrepreneurship in the snack food industry that expanded many years. John was an avid golfer and usher at St. Malachy Church.  The family would like to say a special “Thank you” to the staff at Country Meadows/Genesis Nursing Home.  Visitation will be held at McDERMOTT FUNERAL HOME, Inc., 334 Forest Grove Rd., Kennedy Twp, 6-8 PM WEDNESDAY and 2-4 & 6-8 PM THURSDAY. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Father Joe Mele at St. Malachy Roman Catholic Church at 11:00 AM on FRIDAY, with burial to follow at St. Mark’s Cemetery.
