Joan Ambrose

November 14, 1942 — January 24, 2021

Joan Paulette Marie Ambrose was born in McKees Rocks PA on November 14, 1942. She entered Heaven's gates on January 24, 2021.
A loving mother and homemaker, Joan dedicated her life to caring for her family. Joan lovingly cared for her parents, Paul and Mary Vrabel for many years while being an adoring wife of and dedicated mother. She was often in the kitchen preparing excellent meals for her family, all while tending to the everyday tasks at home. She loved to read and cross stitch and could often be seen at home sewing while her daughters chatted about their days. She was also a sports fan and enjoyed watching or attending Pittsburgh sporting events and attended them often with her family.
Joan had an unwavering faith in God. She was a member of St. Malachy Roman Catholic Church. Over the years, she had become very involved with the church serving as Eucharistic Minster for several years and assisted with numerous fundraising events. Joan volunteered at the parish school where her daughters attended, serving lunches, chaperoning field trips, and sewing costumes for their Christmas plays. She returned years later to again help the school when her grandson became a student.
Joan predeceased her loving husband of 52 years, John Reed Ambrose. Joan and John used these years to show their daughters the true value of a loving marriage and never wavered in their support and commitment to each other. Joan was also leaves behind two daughters Jeannine Marie and Kristy Anne. Joan always made sure she was there to support her daughters and watch them grow. When her daughters were married, Joan and John welcomed Michael Vittorino and Sean Owen with open arms and treated them as they were their own sons. After Jeannine and Mike blessed her with her grandson Luke, she committed her time to helping them so that he did not need to attend daycare. She actively attended Luke's school functions and sporting events. As her daughters and grandson continued to grow, she could often be found shopping and have lunch with her daughters or joining them and her grandson on excursions to zoos and amusement parks.
Joan was also blessed with a younger brother Robert Vrabel, with whom she was always close. Her brother, and his wife Kathryn came to visit often, and could be found spending their Sundays visiting Joan sharing dinner or a simple laugh and her and her family.

The family will receive friends to celebrate her life and share their wonderful memories from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM THURSDAY, January 28, 2021 at McDermott Funeral Home, 334 Forest Grove Road in Kennedy Township. A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating her life will be held the following day on FRIDAY, 10:30 AM at Archangel Gabriel Parish, St. Malachy Church on Forest Grove Road in Coraopolis PA.
