Janice M. Gustafson

Janice M. Gustafson (Zilinskas)

Age 74, on December 17, 2022, after a year-long illness. She is survived by her husband of 25 years Fredrick E., Sr; she was the daughter of Alexander and Theresa Zilinskas and the sister of Sandra (David) Youse. She was raised in Baldwin Borough and attended St. Wendolin grade school and high school. After high school, she attended St. Margaret Nursing School. Upon graduation, she enlisted in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps. She served 2 years, one of which was spent in S. Korea. Thanks to the GI Bill, she was able to attend St. Francis School of Anesthesia and worked as an anesthetist until her retirement. She was employed by several hospitals, including Ohio Valley, Central Medical and Chambersburg hospitals. Janice loved animals and always cared for at least 2 rescued pets. She read widely and travelled extensively in the Caribbean, Mediterranean and Baltic, as well as Cuba, Scandinavia and Alaska. Family will receive friends 4:00-8:00 PM THURSDAY at McDERMOTT FUNERAL HOME, INC., 334 Forest Grove Road, Kennedy Twp.  Mass of Christian Burial is 10AM FRIDAY at Archangel Gabriel Parish/St. Malachy Church. Interment will take place at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Bridgeville at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Animal Friends.
