James R. Hoffman

James R. Hoffman, age 91, of Robinson Township, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 after a long and bravely fought battle with Alzheimer Disease.  He was surrounded by his wife Mary Lou, son James Hoffman, brother-in-law Oscar Maritz and sister-in-law Peggy Maritz.  James was born July 21, 1931, to the late Charles and Margaret Hoffman.  He served in the US Navy for 24 ½ years and retired from the Pittsburgh Post Gazette after 30 years.  He was also a member of the American Legion #862.  James is survived by his wife Mary Lou; son James (Sharon); grandchildren Alyssa Naomi and Aubrey Nicole; brother Charles Hoffman.  He enjoyed life and was a hard worker.  He will be dearly missed by his family and all that knew him.  Relatives and friends received Wednesday, March 15, 2023, from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at McDERMOTT FUNERAL HOME, 334 Forest Grove Road, Coraopolis (Kennedy Twp.) PA 15108.  Funeral prayer Thursday, March 16, 2023, at 10;15 AM at the funeral home followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM in Archangel Gabriel Parish, Holy Trinity Church, 5718 Steubenville Pike, McKees Rocks, PA 15136.  Interment to follow at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies with full military honors.
