James L. Burns

James L. "Jim" Burns, age 67, of Robinson Township, unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, surrounded by his family.  Beloved husband of 41 years to Diane (Wikowski) Burns.  Loving father of Kim (Matt) Burns-Peterson, Lindsay (Massimo) Andreozzi, and Katie (Jake) Ward; cherished Pappy of Allie, Angelo, Nadia, Sasha, Matteo, Luke, Maddie, and Leo; brother of Valerie (Rich) Larcinese and Michael (Carol) Burns; uncle of Ashley and Britni.  Jim was preceded in death by his parents James and Patricia Burns.

His love for aviation led him to a 41-year career as a simulator engineer and later a propulsion engineer with US Airways/American Airlines.  Jim’s passion for Astronomy and the outdoors inspired him to complete the Grand Canyon rim to rim trail.  He also enjoyed many adventures to National Parks and attended rocket launches.  He enjoyed traveling, especially with his family. 

Jim was a lifetime member of Holy Trinity Church and member of the Knights of Columbus #11279.  He served as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Eucharist, past youth minister, and volunteered for many other activities in the church.

Jim will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Relatives and friends received Friday, August 4, 2023 from 1-3 & 6-8 PM at McDERMOTT FUNERAL HOME, 334 Forest Grove Road, Coraopolis (Kennedy Twp,) PA 15108.  Funeral prayer Saturday 11 AM at the funeral home followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 12 PM in Archangel Gabriel Parish, Holy Trinity Church, 5718 Steubenville Pike, Robinson Township, PA 15136.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jim’s memory may be made to The National Ovarian Cancer Coalition – TEAM TEAL. https://togetherinteal.donordrive.com/participant/32499
