It is with great sadness that the family of Gerald P. Ruettgers, Jr. “Jerry” ~ of Kennedy Township, announces that he passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 18, 2020, after suffering a heart attack.  

Jerry was the beloved son of Gerald P. Ruettgers Sr. and the late Roberta M. Ruettgers.  He is the adored father of Cory K. Ruettgers, who was his pride and joy and also his best friend. Jerry was the proud future grandfather of baby Mirra Bella . He will be missed dearly by the love of his life and fiancee, Christine Renee DeTorre, with whom he shared some of his most cherished years.  He will be remembered lovingly by his three sisters Janet Smarra (Tony), Marcy Smith (Dr. Brian), and Lori Chadwick (Duane),  as well as his many nieces, nephews and friends.  

Jerry is known and loved for his big heart, his sense of humor, wit and was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler’s fan. 

Private visitation for family and relatives will be 2-4 & 6-8 PM THURSDAY at the McDERMOTT FUNERAL HOME, INC., 334 Forest Grove Road, Kennedy Twp.  Mass of Christian Burial is 11:00 AM FRIDAY at Archangel Gabriel Parish, St. Malachy Church.  In lieu of flowers the family respectfully suggests memorial contributions be made in Jerry's name to St. Jude's Childrens Hospital.
