George Kurtanich

KURTANICH George 94, of Pittsburgh, passed away peacefully Friday, April 24, 2015, surrounded by his family and friends. He was the beloved husband of the late Margaret Kurtanich; father to Daniel Kurtanich, Paul (Camille) Kurtanich, Martin (Karla) Kurtanich, Karen (Gerald) Stebbins, Elaine Kurtanich, Philip (Alina) Kurtanich, James (Anne) Kurtanich, and Janet (Sebastian) Paldao; and 13 grandchildren. He is also survived by 3 siblings, Mary, Michael (Dolores) and Roselene, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. George worked hard all his life, having been raised on a farm in Mercer County. He passed on his work ethic to those around him. George was an avid baseball and Pirates fan, having attended hundreds of games, including game 7 of the 1960 World Series. Friends may visit SUNDAY 1-4 & 6-8, at McDERMOTT FUNERAL HOME, INC., 334 Forest Grove Rd., Kennedy Twp., where Parastas will take place at 7:30 PM. Panachida/Liturgy will be held MONDAY 10 AM, at Holy Ghost Byzantine Catholic Church, 225 Olivia St., McKees Rocks 15136. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in George's name to the Byzantine Catholic Seminary, 3605 Perrysville Ave., Pgh., 15214, or the American Heart Association of Pittsburgh.
