Edward George Shearer, Sr.

Age 87, passed away on Dec. 7. Beloved husband of Lily for over 67 years, married on June 11, 1949; loving father of Deb (Ken) McGowan, Douglas Shearer, Eddie (Judy) Shearer, Jr., Lisa (Tony Andrejasik) Shearer; grandfather of Shawn (Natalie) McGowan, Tammy (Ralph) Yekel, Crystal McGowan, Winona (Dan) Lipner, Blaze Shearer, Shaina Shearer, Cheyenne Shearer, Eddie (Misty) Shearer, III; great-grandfather of Ashley, Brandon, and Brittany Yekel, Kayleigh McGowan, Carson Lipner, Layla Shearer, Eddie Shearer, IV. Ed served in the US Army National Guard and worked for over 30 years as a produce manager for Giant Eagle. Upon retiring from Giant Eagle, he worked and volunteered many years at St. Francis de Sales. Noted for his sense of humor, he always enjoyed making people laugh. Friends will be received on SUNDAY from 2-8 p.m. at the McDERMOTT FUNERAL HOME, INC. 1225 Chartiers Ave., McKees Rocks, where prayers will be offered on MONDAY at 9:00 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. John of God Parish, St. Mary’s Church.
