Edward J. Ambrose

89, of Stowe Twp., died Saturday, October 3, 2015. He was born January 8, 1926 in McKees Rocks, PA to the late Napoleon and Monica (Laurinites) Ambrose. A retired WWII Army veteran and reserves of 42 years with the rank of Master Gunnery Sgt. He served with 69th Inf. Div. with the European Campaign, Battle of the Bulge, Zeigfried Line and Central Europe Campaign. Mr. Ambrose was retired from Dravo Corp. as a machine operator and expeditor. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and dancing. He was a life member of VFW Post 418, Commander of the American Legion Post 618. He also served as Deputy Commander of the 36th District of the American Legion. Mr. Ambrose was a member of St. John of God Parish. He was active in all veterans activities and hospital parties for veterans. Survivors include, two sons, Charles E. (Jackie) Ambrose, Las Vegas, NV, and David M. (Lisa) Ambrose of Upper St. Clair, and two grandchildren, Michael and Samantha. Also two nieces, two nephews, one great niece, and a companion, Jennie Musial of West Leechburg. In addition to his parents, Mr. Ambrose was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Skapika, and his borther Bernard Ambrose. Family and friends will be received on WEDNESDAY from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at McDERMOTT FUNERAL HOME, INC. 1225 Chartiers Avenue, McKees Rocks, where prayers will be offered THURSDAY at 9:00 AM, followed by Mass of Christian Burial in St. John of God Parish, St. Mary's Church at 9:30 AM.
