Edna Lamping

For seventy-three years of marriage, Edna and Joe Lamping were inseparable.  After his death in January of this year, Edna’s daily prayer was to be with her loving husband.  On August 31, her prayers were answered when she peacefully passed away at her home in Robinson Township and was reunited with her Joe.  Edna, age 97, was born on September 25, 1922 to Mary Nickischer Posch and John Posch in McKees Rocks. She attended St. Mary’s School and McKees Rocks High School.  She worked at Krobots Market on Railroad Street where she first met Joe who was making deliveries.  She and Joe were married at St. Mary’s on June 26, 1946.  They had six children, Joseph Jr. (deceased), Rosemary (Tom) Jageman, Barbara (Simá½€n) Garrett-Boger, Lois (Jim) Nicholson, Ed (Susan) Lamping and Kathy (Mark) Dolak.  She is survived by 17 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. In addition to her son and parents, she was predeceased by siblings John Posch, Pvt. Frank Posch and Arthur Posch. She was a member of St. Malachy Church, S.N.P.J. Lodge 106, CFU Lodge 29, AARP Chapter 4820 and two card clubs. She and Joe travelled and performed with the Slovenian Heritage Association throughout the United States, Canada and Europe for many years. Please be advised that due to COVID restrictions, visitation is limited only to family. A Mass of Christian Burial for family and friends will be at St. Malachy Church in  Kennedy Township on Thursday, September 10 at 10:00 AM.  Attendees are required to wait in the parking lot prior to the Mass and must wear masks. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Edna’s name to St. Jude Children’s Hospital at stjude.org.
