Doris J Kocis

Age 78, of Kennedy Township. Passed on to eternal life on Wednesday, February 3, 2021. Beloved wife of 56 years to Andrew Kocis. Daughter of the late Lawrence and Ann Kaye. Proud mother of Kelly Vietmeier (Glenn). Cherished grandmother to Trent, Brooke, and Ava. Loving sister to Debbie Krigar (Tom) and Jackie Kaye. Dear aunt, cousin, and friend to many. Doris graduated from Montour High School in 1960, and worked passionately at her hair salon, Doris Kocis Hair Fashions. She loved and treated all of her clients like family. For over 20 winters, she and Andy were Florida “snowbirds” and made countless lifelong friends from their travels. Her favorite pastimes included cooking, baking, and keeping traditions from her Ukrainian heritage. Doris’ first love was her family and spending time with them especially her grandchildren. Our hearts are broken, but we know she is now with her heavenly family.

Family and friends received Monday, February 8, 2021, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday, February 9, 2021, from 9-11 a.m. at McDERMOTT FUNERAL HOME, INC., 334 Forest Grove Rd., Kennedy Twp. Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 9, 2021, St. Malachy Church.

CDC guidelines are being followed and facemasks and social distancing are required at both the funeral home and church. According to PA state rules, there is a limit of 45 people allowed in the funeral home at one time.

Doris used to do my hair and my moms. She always had a smiling face and kind words. So sorry Kelly and family!
