Dennis P. Sullivan
Age 64, unexpectedly, went to be with Our Lord on December 10, 2020. He is survived by his mother, Ann Sullivan, brother Terry Sullivan, and sister Beverly Kantz (Edward), niece and Goddaughter Samantha Kantz, nephew and kindred spirit Shaun Kantz, and so many wonderful friends who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his father Patrick William Sullivan.
For 40 years Dennis was a dedicated IT specialist for the National Center for Juvenile Justice. Working with Judge Cohill and Hunter Hearst II, Dennis impacted generations of young people as their advocate in the juvenile justice system.
For countless years Dennis was a devoted caregiver to his mother.
Always a kind, generous, and genuine person, he spent much of his time and talent giving to others. He volunteered for many years at the former St. Francis de Sales Church and the Martina Spiritual Renewal Center, as well as singing with the Duquesne University Chapel Choir.
Christmas was his favorite time of year and fittingly he will be remembered with a Christmas celebration. Visitation will be 2-4 & 6-8 PM SUNDAY at the McDermott Funeral Home, Inc., 1225 Chartiers Avenue, McKees Rocks. Due to current Covid-19 regulations, there will be a continuous rotation of (10) visitors into the funeral home at one time. Mass of Christian burial will be on Monday, December 14th, 2020 9:30 AM at the St. Mary’s worship site of Archangel Gabriel Parish in McKees Rocks. Masks and social distancing are required at the church for the health and safety of all visitors. Following Dennis’s example of true generosity, in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Martina Spiritual Renewal Center.
Pat and I are so fortunate to have known Dennis, and will always carry with us his example of spirit and generosity. I rarely trade Christmas gifts with people at work, but I did with Dennis at NCJJ, even though I was there just a short time. What a warm, fun and sweet nature he had.

I was fortunate to get to know Dennis working at NCJJ. His kindness, generosity, and Christmas spirit is unmatched. He bought both of my sons beautiful 1st Christmas ornaments, and I think of him fondly every time I hang them on our tree. Sending love to his family.

Reading the tributes bring both tears and smiles....the memories are so similar, the impact Denny had on so many....never forgetting a birthday with a funny card, from Christmas gifts, ornaments and CDs made to share his love of the season to bowling adventures including Brannan's Bowl, Kennedy Lanes, Lancaster/Hershey and St. Clairsville....boy could Denny make you laugh! Rest in Peace.

Dennis was a TRUE DeSales Guy! He worked so hard with Joe Day to take care our beloved St. Francis De Sales Church. My wife and myself send our sympathy prayers and thoughts with the family. I used to see Dennis at St. James Sewickley on Saturdays. He will be missed! Peace to you Dennis, take care of heaven... Lou and Sharon Cisar

My deepest sympathy to Ann and the rest of the family. I have only had the pleasure of knowing Dennis a short time while caring for Ann, but he was one of the kindest people I have ever met. A devoted caregiver to Ann, I know he will be missed terribly. He was an angel on earth, and has now returned home to heaven.

There was no one better than you, Dennis. You taught us much more than the three Ps of dieting: Pop, Potato Chips and Pizza. We love you and thank you for every laugh, kindness, and Christmas gift, but most of all we thank you for helping so many and never expecting anything in return. Godspeed, my friend.

Considering Dennis and his love of music, it's only fitting that I begin his tribute with lines from The Best - Tina Turner, one of his faves: "You're simply the best, better than all the rest, better than anyone, anyone I've ever met." That was evident for everyone who knew him. There will never be another Dennis Sullivan.
Dennis (AKA Dapper) and I became fast friends working together back in 1998 and became "thick as thieves" over the past 22 years. Most all of my great memories have him in them. My life has been so much richer and blessed because he was in it. This is an immeasurable loss. He was a Saint on earth. He didn't have to wait at the gates to get into Heaven, the gates were wide open for him when he got there. That makes me smile and gives me comfort. This will be your best Christmas ever, Mr. Christmas, you'll be singing carols with the angels!
Love to all of Dennis' family and friends during this difficult time.
