CLAIRE M. YOUNG

On December 19, 2020, at the age of 78, the world lost a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, after battling a brief recent illness. Claire (Lepro) Young was born in Midway, PA, on October 4, 1942, to the late Louis and Viola Lepro. She was the youngest of six children, all of whom have preceded her in death. She was a long time resident of McKees Rocks, PA, where she raised her family and resided for many years with her loving husband, Tom, who preceded her in death in 2014. Claire leaves to cherish her memory her children, Melinda “Mindy” (Dave) Crossley, and Darrin (Hollie) Young, as well as her grandchildren, Jillian, Lauren, Mackenzie, Brayden, Paige, Makaela, and Abbygail. Claire shared a great love for animals, gardening, baking, listening to Elvis, crafting, eating her “sweets,” and spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed by all who have had the pleasure to know her. Visitation will be held on December 28, 2020, at McDermott Funeral Home in McKees Rocks, PA, from 10:00am-12:00pm. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the viewing service will be held for immediate family only. The burial service will also be held on December 28, 2020, at 12:30pm promptly, at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in McKees Rocks, PA, where all are welcome to attend. A memorial service, to celebrate Claire’s life, will be held at a later date. Lastly, the family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to “Nurse Bob,” who went above and beyond for being by Claire’s side through her passing. We are eternally grateful for his service and for making such a difficult time a little bit easier through his kindness and compassion. The family would also like to thank every healthcare worker who was involved in her care, especially the Vitas Hospice Team, at St. Clair Hospital, where she spent her last days on this earth.
