My mom was my "Partner in Crime". We could just look at eachother and know exactly what we were thinking. Most of the pranks she pulled were assisted by me! She would tell me what she wanted to do and I was always saying "I'm in!" Whether ir be helping her make menopause Barbies or spray painting an ice scraper hot pink. I wouldn't always know who it was for, but I was always there. She was there for during my best (and bad) times, and I'll never forget that.
The past few years have been very hard on her, and her loved ones. I know she's happier now. I no longer have her here, but I basically have the same sense of humor and I will try to live up to hers.....

Barb made working at Magee an adventure with her unusual sense of humor. We would come up with crazy themes for birthday parties! We managed to surprise her a few times also for big birthdays. The Menopausal Barbie party for her 50th was epic! Word spread throughout the hospital and people from other departments came to see our Barbie doll displays! Then when she turned 60, we gave a Sweet 16 party with peace sign earrings and necklace, blue eye shadow and all the works. Barb didnt miss a beat, she just started to put on the eye shadow and peace signs while we sang to her! She got me especially well for my 50th birthday though. Somehow she removed the cellophane carefully from a box of Sarris chocolate and filled it with vegetables so it weighed the same and then slide the cellophane back in it! Still do not understand how she did that! When I opened it, my jaw almost hit the floor when I saw carrots and radishes instead of chocolate! Only Barb could think of the doing that!!! I laugh every time I remember that. Barb was my friend and I loved her and will miss her but I am betting she is planning some practical joke to play on St. Peter right now!

She was a caring and VERYart nurse who lovingly helped me care for my patients. She had a wonderful and quirky sense of humor that she used liberally. I, as her boss, could be having a decidedly bad day but Barb could get a belly laugh out of me without fail. And she is the only person I have met with whom I entrust a 2 lb box of Sarris chocolates to for 2 weeks! She would only eat the Jordan almond. Yes she was my employee, but much more she was my friend and confidante. I miss her terribly. I still remember her Barbie turns 50 party at the office.

I know she always loved you and working with you. On a side note, I'm pretty sure I have a cross stitch that you made for her. I know it meant a lot to her. If you'd like to have ir, I would be happy to get it to you. Thank you Dr. Portman
