ANDREW A. DZUREK, Sr.       

Age 94, of Kennedy Township, passed peacefully in his home, surrounded by his family on July 6, 2020.  Beloved husband of Jean (Gallick) Dzurek for 70 years, esteemed father of Nancy (Daniel) Worst, David (Kristine) Dzurek; Richard & the late (Suzy) Dzurek, Andrew Jr. (Kimberly) Dzurek, Linda (Keith) Ponegalek, and Lorrie (Frank) Maiolo. Cherished grandfather (pap) of Brian Worst, Melissa Bosco, Jessica Dzurek, Megan Gatesman, Alicia Ponegalek, Amanda Orsi, Andrew Dzurek III, Jennifer Maiolo & Frankie Maiolo, and 9 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by brothers John & Joseph and sisters, Ann Kraykovic & Betty Bahleda.

Andrew (Andy) proudly served with the US Marines and was a combat veteran in the Southwest Pacific during WWII. He participated in the capture and occupation of Okinawa, the consolidation of the Northern Solomon Islands & the Philippine Campaign. 

Andy retired from Conrail as a Block Operator. He enjoyed his family and grandchildren and loved hosting parties, never missing an opportunity to cheer on the Steelers.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 14th from 10:00am until the service at 12:00pm at McDermott Funeral Home, Inc., 1225 Chartiers Avenue, McKees Rocks. Following the service burial with US military honors at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army or The National Kidney Foundation.
